I was utterly and totally dumb founded the other day when I decided to sit down and watch the ever-depressing news!
Maybe I am a little strange, I was taught things like: respect our
elders, respect those of authority, things like that. But then again- I
was also taught- opinions are like butt holes, and we all have one.....
However, I am having a problem with how we disrespect our Presidents, ruin their names, judge them, and sometimes even assume.
I understand that people who are in the limelight, expect it, and know it will happen. But it's one thing to disrespect an actor or actress, but to do with our Presidents? No, I don't think so!
Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the comical side of pretending to be our presidents, and even our president elects on TV shows such as "Saturday Night Live" and "Mad TV" But I think it all needs to be in good taste. Not slander, not discriminating, not totally off the wall.
The thing that made me want to speak up this time, is because of the Obama Joker posters and T-shirts. These items say various things on the bottom, such as fascism and racism and socialism and a few dot coms.
President Obama has only been in office eight months! How can you judge him yet? He has made changes, he has done things! I mean, if you don't remember- too bad, because I do- when his term took effect he started doing things from the get go, and it was talk all over the news. Now, because people think he is isn't doing enough, fast enough, now you slander his name and character.
Before you go off on your rampage, are you aware of the fact that the President can want to change this and that, but it is congress that can veto him? And do you truly think congress is going to out and out say, "He asked for lower prices on health care, we told him no!" No, they are going to keep their mouths shut! They don't want you mad at them, let the President take the fall!
And you want to another thing that agitated me when Clinton was President? With the Monica Lewinsky crap- whether its true or not, how is our business who our President sleeps with or gets "serviced" by? Maybe he and his wife have an open marriage, how is it our concern? His marriage wasn't why we voted him in!
Let us not forget how our tabloids will invent a story, just to get published, their name into print, they don't care whether its fact or fiction, just so long as it gets a headline and sells their paper!
I know what you could say though about the Clinton ordeal and understand: "Isn't he suppose to be a Christian?" and "Was he on duty doing Presidential things? (while he was allegedly being serviced.)" and "He is representing the people!"
Now you tell me, yes he's representing the people- but how many people have their own skeletons in their closet, things they are ashamed of. How many people have committed adultery? That's right, the numbers are high!
And by all means, people- let us not forget "Watergate." Now mind you, I am not saying it did or did not happen, I am simply asking you to recall it. It is another episode with our President. It gained public attention, and had to be investigated. However, this one proved to be fact. And I can't help myself but to add, "allegedly". Who knows maybe "someone tampered with evidence, and made the President take the fall!" We truly are not God's and do not have ALL of the facts, trust me on that one!
We NEVER get ALL of the facts! They only tell us what we want and need to hear, each and every time!
That's right, our Presidents are people too, they can, will and do make mistakes. Let's not "assume" just because one has, they all will. Let's not assume, because of race, religion or otherwise, that these Presidents will be like someone else, that they will push their religion on us, that they will play favorites. We voted them in, they have four years to prove themselves. If in that four years we are still disappointed, at that time, we can vote him or her out!!
No one, that's right people, no one- not even the President of the United States of America is perfect. And might I add, for those who are Christians and using that as your reasoning for disliking someone like Bill Clinton- does your bible not teach you to: "Judge not lest ye be Judged." Correct me if I am wrong here, but what you are doing is in fact- judging.
Whether you voted in the President of the United States or not, you still must understand all of his duties, and that yes- his ideas, his plans, can all be vetoed, no matter how hard he tries. He is in charge of our Country. Your slander to his name, when the other countries see it, to which they will- makes us all look bad. It shows our lack of respect, our childish petty nature, and hatred. What are we teaching our children, lets alone- the next generation?!
And by all means, if you didn't vote, I honestly feel you have no right to complain what so ever. And if the man or woman was voted in, it means that a majority of our Country wanted that person there.
You need to start thinking before you start slandering our Presidents, both past, present and future.
